Quality Engineer
Revolution Space is building advanced space systems for the 21st century, and they are seeking a self-directed Quality Engineer to support flight hardware and internal assembly operations. The role focuses on ensuring product quality, managing supplier quality, and developing the company's Quality Management System aligned with aerospace standards.

Responsibilities
Proactively identify quality, reliability, and compliance risks across parts, materials, assemblies, and processes
Lead non-conformance, failure, and escape investigations using structured Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) methods
Drive Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to verified closure
Support receiving inspection, in-process inspection, and final acceptance of flight hardware
Ensure travelers, work instructions, inspection plans, and records are accurate, complete, and followed
Perform supplier audits, risk assessments, and surveillance
Review and approve certificates of conformity, material certs, test data, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)-type submittals
Drive supplier corrective actions and prevent recurrence
Help build, maintain, and improve a QMS aligned to AS9100 and ISO 9001
Support internal audits, customer audits, and future certification readiness
Write, improve, and enforce procedures, work instructions, and quality records
Track and analyze non-conformances, escapes, scrap, rework
Identify systemic risks and trends before they become flight or schedule impacts
Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Mission Assurance
Support configuration control, deviations, waivers, and risk acceptance
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Materials, or similar)
5+ years in Quality Engineering in aerospace, defense, aviation, or other high-reliability regulated industries
3+ years working within ISO 9001 or AS9100-aligned quality systems
Experience supporting flight hardware, space hardware, or safety-critical products
RCCA methodologies (8D, Five-Why, Fishbone)
Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
Engineering drawings, tolerancing, material specs, and build documentation
The ability to use integrated business software to track parts, manage schedules, and ensure data integrity from the initial quote through final shipping. This includes Bill of Materials, work orders, and inventory traceability
Self-starter who identifies problems and fixes them without being asked
Comfortable operating in a startup-pace aerospace environment
Strong written and verbal communicator
Able to challenge bad data, weak processes, and poor discipline
Works effectively with technicians, engineers, suppliers, and customers
Preferred
Experience with Aerospace Standards (AS9145/AS9102) or IATF 16949 is a plus but not required
Proven experience as a Risk Lead or Subject Matter Expert in identifying, mitigating, and managing technical and operational risks across the product lifecycle
System Safety, Parts, Materials, and Processes (EEE parts, materials control, special processes), Supplier risk management, Mission Assurance or Reliability Engineering, Configuration management, deviations, and waivers
