Sr. Public Works Engineer
Project Partners is seeking a Senior Engineer to manage water and wastewater projects, providing key public sector experience. The role involves overseeing engineering activities, mentoring staff, and ensuring project compliance with standards.
Responsibilities
Lead and oversee engineering planning, design, and construction activities for Public Works and Utilities projects, including supervision of staff and consultants
Perform and review a variety of technical calculations and ensure engineering work meets applicable standards and regulations
Provide mentorship and training to staff, set clear work expectations, and conduct performance evaluations
Coordinate projects and collaborate with other City divisions, departments, and outside agencies to ensure smooth project delivery
Assist with project budgeting, including preparing detailed cost estimates, identifying resource needs, and monitoring project expenditures
Prepare and present reports, technical documents, and project updates to management, committees, and other stakeholders
Serve as a project manager, planning, scheduling, and overseeing all phases of assigned engineering projects from concept through construction
Review and prepare design plans and specifications for projects such as grading, sewer, water, and wastewater facilities
Develop and manage RFPs and contracts for professional and construction services, including preparing scopes of work, evaluating proposals, negotiating terms, and administering contracts
Maintain organized project records, files, and databases to ensure documentation is accurate and up to date
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or related field
At minimum, 5 years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience, including 1 year in a lead or supervisory capacity
Knowledge of water supply, pumping, storage, and distribution, as well as, wastewater, collection, treatment, and disposal
Experience with staff supervision and assessment
Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
Valid CA Driver's License and proof of insurance
Preferred
Licensed California Professional Engineer (PE)
