Pennsylvania Organizing Manager

Vot-ER is a nonprofit organization focused on expanding civic engagement and voter access. The Pennsylvania Organizing Manager will lead volunteer teams and healthcare professionals to implement a statewide organizing strategy that prioritizes communities facing barriers to voting, while also managing interns and volunteers as needed.

Responsibilities

Recruit, train, and support healthcare providers, students, and associations across Pennsylvania, and occasionally in other states, to lead nonpartisan voter engagement in their institutions
Build and maintain relationships with hospitals, community health centers, universities, professional associations, and community partners to expand Vot-ER’s reach
Develop and execute a state organizing strategy that grows participation in Vot-ER programs and increases voter access for patients and communities
Coordinate and coach cohorts of health professionals and students participating in Vot-ER programs including the Civic Health Fellowship, Healthy Democracy Campaign, Community Civic Engagement Program, and Civic Health Month
Lead ongoing intake calls and onboarding for new health professionals, including training on having voting conversations, using Vot-ER tools, and securing organizational buy-in
Organize and facilitate presentations, workshops, and trainings to educate and mobilize healthcare audiences around civic engagement and voter access
Utilize text outreach, social media, email, and professional networks to recruit participants and promote Vot-ER programs statewide
Support and occasionally lead cross-state organizing efforts when needed
Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding process for interns or short-term program staff
Collaborate with the Vot-ER team to share learnings, refine strategy, and contribute to program development
Stay informed on voting rights, state election policies, and health equity issues to provide accurate, relevant information to partners
Lead and participate in Vot-ER’s Get Out the Vote efforts including phonebanks, textbanks, and voter readiness outreach in Pennsylvania and nationally as needed

Required

Strong People Skills: Excellent communication, active listening, and emotional intelligence to build trust and collaborate with diverse healthcare professionals and partners
Proactivity & Independence: Self-motivated, able to take initiative, and comfortable managing multiple tasks and projects with minimal supervision
Enthusiasm & Motivation: Positivity and energy that inspire volunteers, partners, and teammates
Organizing Experience: Background in community organizing, volunteer leadership, or campaign work. Experience with strategic planning, training development, or team growth is highly valued. Knowledge of voter registration processes and/or healthcare systems is a strong plus
Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport, present to groups, and collaborate effectively across teams
Leadership & Coaching: Ability to guide, mentor, and support volunteers, interns, and health professionals; strong facilitation and training skills
Adaptability & Flexibility: Comfortable navigating fast-paced environments, adjusting strategies when needed, and embracing new ideas and tools
Tech Proficiency: Familiarity with remote organizing tools, CRM platforms, virtual training platforms, and creative uses of technology to engage partners

At least two years of related experience either volunteer or paid campaign experience
Ability to travel to the Philadelphia metro area bi-monthly
Ability to travel to sites to meet with partners, institutions, and providers/individuals monthly
Participate in Vot-ER wide retreats and gatherings a minimum of twice per year

Preferred

Experience with health or civic engagement related projects or research
Ability to speak or read in Spanish
