The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing accounting functions, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with regulations while managing a team and working collaboratively with external auditors.

Responsibilities
Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work to ensure compliance with applicable standards, laws, and regulations
Preparation of financial statements
Perform month-end close
Oversee and manage the general accounting functions including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes
Help with quarterly and year-end financial audit activities and preparation of the annual tax preparation up to and including trial balance
Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements
Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
Perform reconciliations of all accounts
Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested
Supervise and/or manage general ledger accounting functions
Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end
Perform all necessary journal entries
Manage sales tax for 50 states using Tax Jar, and file manual sales tax returns in states that do not participate
Reconciliation of ERP to sales tax filings
Escalate any issues which may impact business operations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all level of an organization
Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results
Experience with Quick Books Online
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with other financial systems
Willingness to stay up-to-date with the latest accounting methodologies and technologies
Engage interest and participation of others, and have a collaborative approach to working together
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail, consistency, and accuracy
Ability to work well under pressure and handle urgent and stressful situations
