Battery Charging Validation Engineer
Global Connect Technologies is seeking a Battery Charging Validation Engineer with strong automotive experience to support vehicle-level validation of battery charging systems. The role focuses on ensuring that charging systems meet performance, durability, safety, and customer requirements through close collaboration with various engineering teams.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute test cases and validation plans focused on:
Battery Charge Care Mode (BCCM)
Battery charging limits, protection strategies, and longevity modes
Immediate and scheduled battery charging
AC and DC fast battery charging behavior
Charging state transitions and charge completion logic
Validate battery charging performance, robustness, and customer experience at the full vehicle level
Translate battery charging and BCCM requirements into executable vehicle-level test procedures
Maintain strong traceability between requirements and test cases using tools such as Jama, Codebeamer, Jira, DOORS, or Polarion
Support requirement updates, change requests, and validation sign-off
Analyze battery charging data related to:
Charging time and responsiveness
Charging curves and taper behavior
Peak power delivery and thermal limits
Battery protection and degradation-aware strategies (BCCM)
Benchmark battery charging performance across AC and DC fast charging scenarios
Execute onsite vehicle testing, including:
Battery and vehicle preconditioning
Charging tests at public charging stations and proving grounds
Data logging, instrumentation, and environmental controls
Support and participate in validation trips and test campaigns under normal and extreme conditions
Work closely with:
Battery systems and battery management teams
Charging software and controls engineers
Vehicle integration and systems engineering teams
Communicate test results, support issue triage, and drive resolution of charging and BCCM-related issues
Document validation results through:
Test reports
Defect and anomaly tracking
Validation status dashboards and sign-off matrices
Provide clear input into release readiness and sign-off decisions
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
4+ years of experience in automotive vehicle validation, with a strong focus on: Battery charging systems, Battery management or energy systems, Experience writing test cases, validation procedures, and test reports
Strong understanding of: Battery charging behavior and strategies, Battery protection, degradation, and care concepts (BCCM), Automotive EV charging systems (AC / DC), Experience with requirements management tools (Jama, Codebeamer, Jira, DOORS, Polarion)
Familiarity with automotive development processes and standards related to battery and charging systems
Knowledge of U.S. EV charging and safety regulations is a plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ownership mindset and attention to detail
Clear written and verbal communication
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional automotive engineering environment
Preferred
Experience with Battery Charge Care Mode (BCCM) or similar battery longevity features
Experience with EV battery management systems (BMS)
Experience validating customer-facing battery charging features
