Responsibilities
Build and maintain scalable, automated ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and curate eBay transactional and user behavioral data for analytics and product decision-making
Design and implement data models (e.g., star schemas, marts) and semantic layers that support A/B testing, product metrics, and self-service reporting
Partner with product management, product engineering, data engineering, architecture, and operations to define and instrument key product success metrics; ensure data quality, lineage, and observability across pipelines
Implement and manage experiment instrumentation and data flows to support A/B tests; provide accurate datasets and experiment guardrails so stakeholders can make sound decisions
Develop reliable reporting assets and dashboards in Tableau or Nous (internal tool), and automate scheduled reports/emails for stakeholders
Perform targeted analytics deep dives to identify trends, outliers, and product opportunities; translate findings into requirements or improvements to datasets, metrics, and pipelines
Establish and monitor data quality checks, validation suites, and SLAs; proactively troubleshoot pipeline issues and drive root-cause analysis
Document data models, metrics definitions, and pipeline architecture; contribute to knowledge sharing and present findings weekly to accelerate data-informed decisions
Optimize cost and performance of data workflows; leverage best practices for partitioning, indexing, incremental loads, and job orchestration
Collaborate on governance and compliance needs (e.g., PII handling), ensuring secure, auditable data practices
Qualification
Required
Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field Plus 3 years of professional experience in data engineering or a closely related role (e.g., data analytics, data science) building production-grade data pipelines and analytical datasets
Alternative Acceptable Experience: Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in a related field plus 5 years of progressively responsible experience in data engineering, data analytics, or data science with the skills above
Advanced SQL and one programming/scripting language (e.g., Python)
Hands-on ETL/ELT development and orchestration (e.g., Airflow, Kafka or similar)
Data modeling for analytics and experimentation (e.g., star schemas, marts, semantic layers)
Experience with data warehousing platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) and working with large-scale transactional and behavioral data
Supporting A/B testing or product metrics through event instrumentation and high-quality datasets
Dashboard/report development in Tableau or similar tools (Nous experience is a plus)
Data quality practices (testing/validation), documentation, and cross-functional collaboration with product and engineering teams
