Lead Engineer, Product Configuration

Responsibilities

Develops the design scope and timeline for their discipline within engineering projects
Responsible for meeting project requirements and timelines
Research, create, and update engineering design standards to promote best practices
Supports the design of mechanical components and sub-systems for power/low voltage products including component selection, general layouts, assembly design and installation
Studies and understands related government and industry standards that govern the products being developed
Produce relevant documentation needed to meet project goals, mechanical layouts, mechanical component prints, mechanical assemblies, and compliance documents
Interacts with the Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Industrial Engineering staff on a regular basis
Participate and present technical information during design meetings or reviews
Supports the creation of 2D prints and 3D models at a system level
Help develop product Bill of Material structures to allow for modularity and configurability of products
Reviews Bills of Materials and Change Notices to release components and assemblies
Support costing activities to ensure pricing targets are achieved at the project level
Supports service, aftermarket, and installation teams as needed
Performs other related duties as required and assigned

2D/3D CAD softwareProduct design experienceBill of Material creationRoot cause analysisElectrical design experienceProgramming languagesChange Notice processesProblem solving skills

Required

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 8 years of experience
Working knowledge in 2D/3D CAD design software (Inventor, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo)
Significant experience with complex, configurable, industrial products
Problem solving skills, root cause analysis, and corrective action experience
Experience in Bill of Material creation and Change Notice processes

Preferred

10 years of product design experience preferred
Design experience in electrical components or equipment within the energy industry preferred
Design experience with programming languages and controls software preferred
