Industrial Hygienist Intern – Summer 2026
WSP USA is offering internships across the United States for students to gain hands-on experience. The Industrial Hygienist Intern will provide technical support on various industrial hygiene and Environmental Health and Safety projects while working closely with senior staff.

Responsibilities
Support a variety of Industrial Hygiene tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills
Learn basic principles of Industrial Hygiene
Assist with field assignments, such as performing industrial hygiene monitoring, noise assessments, hazardous materials surveying and abatement monitoring, mold inspections and remediation monitoring, indoor air quality assessments, chemical inventory assessments, ergonomics assessments, job hazard assessments and similar assignments
Assist senior staff in conducting EHS audits and EHS program development
Assist in preparing technical reports, including documentation of field investigative procedures, data management and interpretation, and development of graphical and tabular presentation of data
Assist in preparing and submitting periodic regulatory reports
Ability to conduct assessments at industrial facilities, including climbing ladders, walking upstairs, and carrying field equipment
Working closely with and support senior IH and EHS practitioners and project managers. Interacting with clients and regulators to meet task and budget requirements is a key to success in this position
Complete training on assigned tasks
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Qualification
Required
Actively enrolled in an accredited Public Health, Ecology, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, or related, Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later
Must be 18 or older
Demonstrated interest in Industrial Hygiene, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP's work and projects
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects
Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
Basic proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship
Preferred
Actively enrolled in an accredited Public Health, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, or related, Master's or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later
Experience with Microsoft Office products and web-based applications
Experience with IH sampling techniques and equipment
