Responsibilities

Provide legal advice to the claims organization on insurance coverage issues, bad faith and extra-contractual allegations against the Companies
Perform factual and legal research and analysis
Review documents at the request of Legal Department management
Develop and conduct in-house presentations on research projects

Qualification

Juris Doctor (JD)Insurance coverage experienceLitigation management experienceAnalytical skillsTrial experienceClaims Counsel experienceCommunication skillsProblem-solving skillsCross-functional teamwork

Required

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
5-7 years of insurance coverage experience and litigation management experience at a law firm, government, and/or in-house role
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Up-to-date understanding of the key legal issues germane to an insurance organization
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers
Proficiency in managing multiple priorities, projects, and stakeholders
Trial, motion practice and/or appellate experience
Experience working as a Coverage Attorney, Claims Counsel or Claims Attorney at a law firm or an insurance company
Experience handling coverage, bad faith or extra-contractual litigation against an insurance company

Preferred

A background in insurance coverage and litigation
Experience working with cross-functional teams, both legal and non-legal
