The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a part-time Editorial Assistant to support the Eberly College of Science’s Office of Communications in branding and storytelling efforts. The role involves editing, fact-checking, and coordinating the production of various publications and ensuring compliance with university branding guidelines.

Responsibilities

Edit, fact-check, and coordinate the production/distribution of articles, feature stories, promotional materials, newsletter, and other publications created by the college’s Office of Communications

Ensure that all promotional materials (flyers, brochures, posters, email marketing, invitations, etc.) created by college units meet University editorial style and branding guidelines as the college’s University Brand Review (UBR) process representative

Review and approve information submitted for inclusion on the college events calendar and posting to the college website

Conduct benchmarking, background research, and information gathering for priority college communications and talking points

Proven proofreading experience

Demonstrated appreciation and understanding of diverse audiences and communities

Preferred

Degree and/or experience in an English-, journalism-, or communications-related field

Strong familiarity with the Associated Press Stylebook

Strong familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style

Familiarity with Penn State's brand editorial style and visual identity standards

Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat

Proficiency in InDesign

Proficiency in Canva
