Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Define and implement quality strategy aligned with Blue Origin's long-term goals for human spaceflight and lunar operations
Quality Culture: Establish and maintain a culture of quality excellence that permeates all levels of the organization
Quality Management System: Lead all aspects of Blue Origin's QMS, including compliance with AS9100/ISO9000, integration, and continuous improvement initiatives
Risk Management: Identify potential quality risks and develop proactive measures to mitigate them, safeguarding product integrity
Team Leadership: Serve as a servant leader who inspires teams, providing timely feedback while developing quality talent across the organization
Operational Oversight: Deliver program quality commitments across operations, testing, and flight while implementing design reviews to improve manufacturability
Continuous Improvement: Drive data-driven initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across all quality functions
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations to integrate quality management into all business aspects
Customer Focus: Champion a customer-centric approach, collaborating with external customers on quality concerns and investigations
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to aerospace quality standards and regulations, maintaining readiness for audits and certifications
Performance Management: Establish quality KPIs and metrics to measure, report, and improve organizational performance

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related technical field; advanced degree preferred
15+ years' quality experience in manufacturing, test, or operations with at least 10 years in quality leadership roles
Proven track record of leadership in quality management systems implementation and oversight
In-depth knowledge of aerospace quality standards and regulations (AS9100, ISO9000)
Experience with quality assurance in test, development, production, and maintenance environments
Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to influence at all levels
Strategic mindset focused on driving innovation and continuous improvement
Experience collaborating across matrix-led organizations

Preferred

Aerospace, space launch, military/commercial aviation, or heavy industrial equipment manufacturing experience
Knowledge of design for inspection or testability methodologies
Experience with NDE (Non-Destructive Evaluation) and receiving inspection processes
Strong business acumen aligning quality strategies with overall business objectives
Six Sigma, Lean certification, or other quality improvement methodologies
Experience leading quality organizations during periods of rapid growth and transformation
Track record in space vehicle quality investigations and corrective actions
