Responsibilities

Assists with the development, maintenance, and update of the hydraulic design manuals and policies. Drafts memoranda and assists with the coordination of review comments. Prepares and maintains supporting information for engineering documents
Assists in supporting the Bridge Scour Program by reevaluating bridge-sized structures for potential scour using accepted methods and tools, ensuring the accuracy of SNBI and SBI code data in BrM, maintaining the scour section other Bridge File, assisting with managing BridgeWatch, and reviewing, developing, and maintaining Scour Plans of Action for scour critical bridges
Assists design and maintenance staff in the evaluation of field conditions to determine hydraulic design properties at bridges. Reviews and makes recommendations for the bridge length, span arrangements, and bridge elevation
Assists with the preparation of draft scope of services and man-hour cost estimates for engineering services. Monitors project schedules and payments
Assists with the development and maintenance of resiliency tools to help the Department during emergency and normal operations. Assists with the development and maintenance of hydraulic and hydrologic databases
Assists in training Department and Consultant staff on engineering topics related to hydraulic engineering design
Assists with developing 2D modeling guidelines and aid design staff with the development of 2D models for bridge hydraulic studies
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required

A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management and three (3) years of engineering or construction management work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence
A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required
The physical demands for the essential functions involves sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time
This position may require occasional travel
May require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling
Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards
May be required to work outside normal business hours or respond to emergency situations
