Responsibilities
Conduct research on current mental health policies and legislative proposals at local, state, and federal levels
Collaborate with team members to draft policy proposals, position papers, talking points, and testimony
Connect with county and state level legislators to support advocacy initiatives and build relationships with offices
Support procedures to track legislation and communications with outside agencies
Frequent travel between sites
Qualification
Required
Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student studying Public Policy, Political Science, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field
Strong research, writing, and critical analysis skills
Interest in mental health policy, advocacy, and legislative processes
Comfortable communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including policymakers and community members
Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Reliable Transportation; will go to regular outreach events
Preferred
Familiarity with online legislative tracking tools
