Director of Human Resources and Administration
Express Employment Professionals is partnering with a family-run organization to find their next Director of Human Resources & Administration. This role involves leading all HR functions, providing executive-level administrative support, and overseeing office operations, while fostering a positive workplace culture.

Responsibilities
Oversee the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, development, and offboarding
Partner with supervisors on performance management, employee relations, coaching, and corrective actions
Administer employee benefits programs, including health, retirement, and leave plans
Supervise and hire clerical and accounting staff
Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
Develop, update, and communicate HR policies, job descriptions, and the employee handbook
Coordinate staff training, professional development, and engagement initiatives
Manage payroll processing in collaboration with Finance/Accounting
Conduct new employee orientations and develop proactive training programs
Lead employee communications, meetings, and engagement activities to foster a strong company culture
Manage and track the sales bonus program
Provide executive-level administrative support to company leadership
Coordinate corporate accounting activities with offsite vendors
Manage records for subsidiary entities and transmit documentation to CPA for annual tax filings
Oversee subsidiary entities and support investor relations
Manage office operations, including supplies, software, subscriptions, and IT equipment
Coordinate company vehicle licensing, registration, and insurance
Develop and implement HR strategies that support organizational objectives, including talent acquisition, succession planning, and workforce development
Oversee employee relations programs to promote a positive work environment, resolve conflicts effectively, and ensure compliance with employment law such as FMLA, OSHA, and workers' compensation regulations
Lead recruitment efforts utilizing HR sourcing tools and applicant tracking systems (ATS) like Taleo, Workday, or SAP SuccessFactors to attract top talent
Manage performance management processes including employee evaluations, goal setting, and recognition programs to enhance productivity
Administer benefits programs such as health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies while ensuring compliance with applicable laws
Supervise payroll processing through systems like ADP, Paychex, or Paylocity; ensure accuracy in compensation administration
Oversee training & development initiatives to foster employee growth; facilitate onboarding and employee orientation programs
Lead organizational design efforts to optimize structure and workflows; implement process improvements for efficiency
Manage HRIS systems such as Oracle HCM or UltiPro for data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform strategic decisions
Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic planning initiatives related to human capital management
Oversee administrative functions including office management, contracts administration, and program management to support operational needs
Drive change management initiatives that align with organizational goals while maintaining clear communication across teams
Qualification
Required
7+ years of HR management experience in a small to mid-sized organization
Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
Experience supervising staff and supporting senior leadership
Proficiency with payroll processing and HR systems
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, SharePoint, Excel)
Technologically adept with a focus on process improvement
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities with discretion and professionalism
Proven ability to handle highly sensitive information with strict confidentiality
Proven experience in human resources management with a minimum of 8 years in senior leadership roles overseeing HR functions
Demonstrated expertise in employment & labor law compliance including FMLA, OSHA regulations, workers' compensation policies
Extensive background in talent acquisition strategies utilizing ATS platforms such as Taleo or Workday; strong negotiation skills for hiring processes
Supervisory experience managing HR teams or administrative staff effectively
Strong knowledge of HRIS platforms including SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, UltiPro; proficiency in data analysis skills for reporting purposes
Excellent communication skills capable of engaging diverse audiences at all levels of the organization
Ability to lead change management initiatives confidently while fostering a collaborative environment
Knowledge of process improvement methodologies to streamline HR operations and administrative workflows
Preferred
Basic bookkeeping knowledge; familiarity with accounting practices preferred
Certifications: SHRM-CP or PHR preferred
Experience implementing performance management systems and employee evaluation processes
Familiarity with benefits administration software like ADP or Paychex; budgeting capabilities for HR-related projects
