Research Technician II - Microbial Natural Products

Baylor College of Medicine is seeking an entry level Research Technician II to assist in general lab duties within the Johnston lab. This position will support various projects focusing on antibacterial natural products through chemical and molecular biology techniques.

Responsibilities

Assists with the preparation of laboratory reagents and media, cleaning glassware, and general laboratory maintenance
Performs specific experiments for projects within the lab under the supervision of graduate students or postdoctoral fellows
Performs relevant experiments or procedures that includes in vitro protein assays, cloning DNA plasmids, chemical extraction of bacterial cultures, and analysis or purification of small molecules by liquid-chromatography coupled mass-spectrometry (LCMS)
Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment

Preferred

BSc in a relevant scientific discipline, such as chemistry, biochemistry, or biology
Past lab experience (e.g. a thesis project or summer work in a chemistry, biochemistry, or biology lab) would be beneficial
