Principal Systems Engineer
Saab is a leading defense and security company dedicated to creating aviation systems and services. They are seeking a motivated Principal Systems Engineer to design, deploy, integrate, and commission advanced air traffic management systems as part of their Automation and Surveillance team.

Responsibilities
Understand customer requirements (including safety and security standards) and decompose them to generate system designs and architectures, hardware requirements, and software requirements
Perform design analysis and trade studies
Lead small, interdisciplinary teams to develop detailed designs and technical and programmatic artifacts
Develop technical documentation and presentation materials for design reviews
Lead programmatic and technical discussions with customers
Help integrate, configure, and test systems in the factory and in the deployed environment
Work collaboratively with customers, prime contractors, and subcontractors to integrate systems and subsystems
Analyze and reduce large datasets to quantify system performance, investigate anomalies, and develop solutions
Support proposal activities by analyzing requirements, assessing compliance/NRE, providing cost and schedule input, and providing/editing technical written material
Utilize and improve existing Saab processes, policies, and products
Provide mentoring and oversight to less-experienced engineers
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in engineering, physics or computer science from an accredited institution or relevant military education & training
20+ years of relevant experience

The ability to generate high-quality technical documentation, including architecture documents, test plans and procedures, reports, and white papers
Computer programming experience in a high-level language such as Matlab, C/C++, Java, etc
Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)
Preferred
Knowledge of Air Traffic Surveillance and Control systems including international ATC terminology, standards and procedures
An interest in international travel and the ability to work with technical counterparts from different countries and cultures around the world
Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems
Familiarity with IP networks including Firewalls
