Hayes & Associates, LLC is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our growing firm. This position will be responsible for providing accounting and auditing support to clients, including tax preparation and financial statement analysis.

Responsibilities

Prepare, organize, and record financial transactions
Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting services
Organize and update financial records
Assist in planning, risk assessment, and preparation of financial statements
Prepare tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, sole proprietors, and more
Respond to IRS notices
Meet with clients to do business consulting and tax planning
Prepare documentation for external auditors
Perform review, compilation, preparation, audit, and agree-upon procedure engagements

Required

Possess a BS/BA degree in accounting
Ability to research technical accounting and auditing issues
Work with team to identify issues and provide timely solutions and consultation for our clients
Demonstrate excellence in communication skills, data gathering, analysis, reporting, and process improvement
Meet assigned deadlines or budgets and provide advance warning of problems
Be self-motivated and effectively work independently
Possess excellent client relationship skills and time management skills
Be organized with the ability to execute on multiple, concurrent client engagements
Strong problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
0-2 years of experience in public accounting or general accounting

Preferred

Familiarity with accounting and auditing software including QuickBooks, CCH ProSystem fx Engagement, and PPC are a plus
Previous accounting experience or experience in performing nonprofit and governmental accounting is highly desired
CPA certification is a plus
