TRC Companies, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Designer I to perform field data collection and detailed design of electric distribution systems. The role involves using design tools to create layouts and collaborating with team members to ensure project deliverables are met on schedule.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation of electric distribution design packages, including overhead and underground layouts, under the guidance of senior designers or engineers

Use design tools such as AutoCAD and GIS to develop drawings, sketches, and material lists

Conduct site visits to collect field data and document existing infrastructure conditions

Apply TRC or client design standards to ensure compliant and accurate deliverables

Support the preparation of project documents such as BOMs, permit sketches, and service requests

Collaborate with team members to complete design assignments on schedule and within scope

Participate in quality reviews and incorporate red lines and markups as needed

Maintain organized project records and drawing files

Perform other duties assigned to support project delivery and team success

Transfer field notes to a structural design and contribute to the preparation of cost estimates, specifications, evaluation, and requisitions

Preparation of engineering calculations (pole loading, guying, transformer sizing, conductor loading/ sagging)

Coordinate design development to meet project schedules. Achieve weekly billable goal as defined by the project guidelines

Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Minimum of 0-2 years relevant experience with no degree

Basic proficiency in AutoCAD and/or GIS tools

Willingness to learn utility standards, design practices, and field procedures

Familiarity with electric distribution systems (poles, transformers, conductors)

Preferred

Associate's degree or the equivalent in a technical field
