Intern, Government Relations

Yazaki North America is a global leader in vehicle power and data solutions, seeking a motivated Summer Intern to join their Government Relations team. The intern will conduct research on government affairs and public policy issues affecting the auto industry and assist in developing materials for external meetings with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

The work will involve research on a range of Government Affairs and Public Policy issues that affect the auto industry, including tariffs and trade issues. The objectives are to: 1) provide the Yazaki leadership team with regular updates on key issues; 2) develop materials for external meetings with US government and industry stakeholders
Summarize key policy developments via slides, ppt and memoranda
Draft talking points and relevant materials for external advocacy, lobbying and outreach for meetings with Congress and the Administration
Conduct original research on tariffs, trade agreements, USMCA, industry associations positions, etc
Developing high-quality and timely presentations regarding Yazaki’s strategic outreach to key US government agencies
Providing summaries of key calls and meetings on Government Relations issues
Successfully engaging with other teams in Yazaki to keep them apprised of policy developments that may affect the business
Explore potential opportunities for US government procurement of Yazaki products
Work closely with Government Affairs team in US and Mexico, Corporate Strategy, Business Units, R&D, etc

Required

Enrollment in a 4-year degree program at an accredited institution during the internship period
Degree/experience related to the position (e.g., Political Science, International Affairs)
A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks between May 11, 2026, and August 14, 2026
Strong writing skills are important
Strong understanding of government affairs and public policy
Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities

Preferred

Japanese language skills are helpful, but not essential
