Responsibilities
Collaborate with stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features
Contribute to the identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product area with minimal oversight
Create and implement code for products, services, or features, reusing code as applicable
Participate in efforts to break down larger work items into smaller tasks and provide estimations
Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), working on-call to monitor systems, product features, or services for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, and gain approval to restore systems/products/services for simple issues
Build design, code, and deployment with security built in as default
Create detailed design and implementation based on functional requirements
Be a contributor to delivering high-quality, highly available services
Create improvements for systems and engineering processes with simplicity and maintainability as core tenets
Be a role model for an open, honest, and inclusive approach to problem-solving
Leverage subject-matter expertise of product features and partner with stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive project plans, release plans, and work items for the workgroup
Support and influence the team culture towards customer-centricity and continuous improvement
Implement practices that ensure accurate, safe, and efficient releases for our services
Leverage sound engineering practices and principles
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
Preferred
Industry experience with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, Google)
Experience with distributed systems, micro-service architecture, scalability patterns, and high-availability architectures
Experience with REST Based API's development, messaging patterns (e.g. Service bus, Event Hub, Storage Queues) and cloud storage technologies (e.g. Cosmos DB)
Proficient in problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to debugging and performance optimization
Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions
Experience in deploying, monitoring, and operating services in the cloud
Ability to learn and self-motivated
Problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organizational skills
Experience with or exposure to Agile and iterative development processes
Familiarity with modern engineering practices such as CI/CD and version control systems like Git
