The role involves overseeing payroll processes, preparing performance reviews for staff, and communicating with external agencies regarding payroll deductions.

Responsibilities
Manages and backs up the payroll staff on payroll processes
Prepares annual performance reviews, as well as career development, and assesses training needs for payroll staff
Serves as advisor to the Firm in regards to payroll tax law and benefit changes
Process the weekly/biweekly payrolls, including verifying a variety of payroll-related information (e.g., time sheets, direct deposits, wage attachments, benefits, education and relocation payments to employees, transportation/parking, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accurate processing and distribution of payroll
Communicates with external parties (city, state and federal agencies) for the purpose of ensuring accurate processing of payroll deductions/garnishments
Ensures the processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions and terminations are done timely to meet payroll deadlines
Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, local and Firm policies and procedures
Verifies all direct deposit files transmitted through the payroll system
Review (and prepare as backup) all payroll journal entries
Review all general ledger payroll account reconciliations
