Responsibilities

Design and implement networking for hybrid K3s clusters (x86/ARM/accelerators) supporting multi-interface and multi-network scenarios

Configure and optimize CNI plugins including Multus, Cilium, and Calico; enable VLAN-backed, SR-IOV, and multi-interface workloads

Deploy and manage bare-metal load balancers (MetalLB/BGP)

Develop Kubernetes controllers/operators to manage IP pools, VLANs, DNS, and other networking resources; ensure CRD and controller compatibility with GitOps workflows

Automate provisioning, reconciliation, and lifecycle management of cluster networking across hybrid environments

Integrate cluster networking with upstream DNS; manage IP allocation for nodes, pods, and external interfaces; implement IPAM for hybrid and multi-tenant environments

Bridge Kubernetes networks with underlay/overlay environments (VLANs, BGP) and ensure safe consumption of external VLANs

Collaborate with hardware teams on NIC configuration, firmware support, and network device consistency

Implement network security policies, encryption, and multi-CNI isolation; ensure compliance across all network paths

Integrate observability tools (Cilium Hubble, Prometheus, custom metrics) and validate networking performance and reliability

Work with DevOps, SRE, and Hardware Engineering teams to align networking architecture with platform requirements

Document networking architecture, CRDs, operators, and runbooks; provide training and knowledge transfer on advanced networking topics
