Trades Generalist
The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation is seeking a Trades Generalist to perform skilled work in various trades for the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment. The role involves supervising others and using various tools and equipment for tasks including HVAC maintenance, electrical installations, and plumbing repairs.

Responsibilities
A Trades Generalist performs journey-level work in one trade, and skilled and semiskilled level work in a combination of other trades in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment
Incumbents may supervise others in maintenance, repair, installation, and construction activities
A Trades Generalist uses the hand tools, portable power tools, shop equipment and measuring and testing instruments appropriate for the craft or crafts to which assigned
Typical work to include, HVAC maintenance/repairs, BMS monitoring, building construction/repairs, electrical installations/repairs, plumbing installations/repairs, fence and gate installations/repairs, concrete walk construction, drywall installation and finishing, interior and exterior building painting, landscaping and snow removal
Qualification
Required
Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program
An equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services
Must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated when required to operate motor vehicles
Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position
Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain
Must be able to work in remote areas
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions
Travel may be required
Overtime may be required
Overnight travel may be required
Weekends and holidays may be required
Must be available for emergency response
Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 60 pounds
