Responsibilities
Apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts to network performance management solutions
Analyze and resolve complex technical and operational network issues
Implement, configure, and maintain Broadcom SMARTS / Service Assurance monitoring solutions
Collaborate with senior engineers and technical stakeholders across NetOps teams
Develop and maintain scripts, tools, and automation using Python, Perl, and Java
Support and administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7 & 8) environments
Participate in daily scrum meetings and provide status updates
Create and maintain operational documentation using industry best practices
Develop network diagrams, project plans, and engineering documentation
Perform other duties as assigned or directed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
Master's or Doctorate degree may substitute for required experience
7+ years overall experience (Bachelor's degree required)
5–7 years experience with high-level scripting languages (Python and/or Perl)
5+ years experience as a Network Engineer with a focus on network performance management
5+ years experience with SMARTS enterprise network monitoring, including at least 3 years of hands-on implementation and configuration
NetOps expertise with in-depth Broadcom Service Assurance (SMARTS) knowledge
4+ years experience working with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7 & 8)
Strong TCP/IP networking knowledge
Advanced Perl and Python scripting skills
Hands-on experience developing in Java enterprise (J2EE) environments, including: Java Server Faces (JSF 2), Enterprise Java Beans (EJB 3), Java-based AJAX libraries
Experience with Broadcom Service Assurance (formerly SMARTS) monitoring tools
Red Hat Enterprise Linux system experience
VMware systems administration
Experience creating network diagrams using MS Visio
Project planning experience using MS Project
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to produce high-quality operational and technical documentation
Preferred
Advanced programming skills in Perl, Python, and Java
Experience developing and deploying applications on JBoss EAP
MySQL database management experience
Proficiency with Git, GitHub, or Bitbucket
Experience developing on or integrating with ServiceNow
Proven experience monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving complex network issues
Experience developing best-practice engineering scripts, project plans, and documentation
Prior Federal government experience
Self-starter with strong initiative and adaptability in dynamic environments
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
