Responsibilities
Prepare and file statutory financial statements in accordance with NAIC and California Department of Insurance (CDI) requirements
Ensure timely and accurate GAAP and SAP reporting
Manage annual AM Best submissions and maintain rating support documentation
Oversee general ledger, journal entries, and monthly close processes
Reconcile premium, claims, and reinsurance accounts
Monitor cash flow and manage banking relationships
Maintain reinsurance schedules and support treaty accounting
Collaborate with brokers and reinsurers to ensure accurate data exchange and settlement
Maintain investment activities and reconcile investment accounts
Collaborate with investment advisors to ensure investment strategies are in line with the Company and regulatory requirements
Serve as primary liaison with CDI, AM Best, and external auditors
Ensure compliance with internal controls and support SOX-like documentation
Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes
Provide financial analysis and insights to support executive decision-making
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
Must reside within a reasonable commute of Hollister, CA
5+ years experience in P&C insurance accounting or auditing
Strong understanding of statutory accounting principles and regulatory reporting
Experience with AM Best filings and CDI compliance
Familiarity with reinsurance accounting and data management
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or insurance-specific platforms)
Advanced Excel skills; experience with pivot tables and financial modeling
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a lean, collaborative environment
