Customer Service & Sales Representative - Fulltime
Karin’s Florist in Vienna, VA is seeking an experienced Customer Service & Sales Representative to join our growing sales team. This role is ideal for a career sales professional who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment, excels at relationship-based selling, and has hands-on experience in the floral and/or hard goods industry.
Retail
Responsibilities
Greet customers warmly and provide expert guidance on floral arrangements, plants, and complementary hard goods based on occasion, seasonality, and budget
Confidently upsell and cross-sell premium arrangements, upgrades, vases, gift items, balloons, and specialty products
Take and process in-person, phone, and email orders with accuracy and efficiency
Build and maintain strong customer relationships to encourage repeat and standing orders
Conduct outbound calls to routine and corporate customers to confirm and secure recurring floral orders
Handle customer questions, concerns, and escalations with professionalism and a solutions-focused mindset
Maintain a consistently high level of service, even during peak holidays and high-volume periods
Demonstrate working knowledge of commonly used flowers, plants, and floral design terminology
Accurately identify floral products and make informed recommendations based on availability and season
Operate POS and order management systems (MAS experience strongly preferred)
Handle cash and credit transactions accurately and securely
Maintain an organized, polished sales floor and workstation
Assist with merchandising, displays, restocking, and overall store presentation
Support special event preparation (e.g., holidays, proms, funerals, weddings)
Collaborate closely with designers, drivers, and leadership to ensure seamless order fulfillment
Function as a lead sales associate when needed, including opening and closing the store
Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude and assist with additional tasks during downtime
Support administrative duties and special projects as assigned
Qualification
Required
2–5+ years of customer service and sales experience in a fast-paced retail environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Proficient in using POS systems and other sales-related software
Ability to handle cash transactions accurately
Phone etiquette skills for handling customer inquiries over the phone
Proven ability to upsell and drive add-on sales through consultative conversations
Strong verbal and written communication skills (including spelling and grammar)
Demonstrated ability to stay calm, professional, and detail-oriented under pressure
Proficiency with POS systems and comfort using technology daily
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills
Flexible availability, including Saturdays and holidays
Ability to stand for extended periods and move throughout the store
Ability to lift and carry light to moderate items as needed
Preferred
Previous experience in retail sales or a related field is preferred
Prior experience in floral, gift, or hard goods retail strongly preferred
MAS experience strongly preferred
