Wildland Firefighter (Regional Fire Management Planner)

The USDA Forest Service is seeking a Wildland Firefighter (Regional Fire Management Planner) to provide program leadership and consultation for strategic fire management planning. Responsibilities

Evaluate effectiveness of existing wildland fire and/or aviation management programs to provide recommendations for improvement and success of the program
Provide input for budget development to ensure unit staffing levels are met. Review expenditures, including budget allocations, discretionary spending accounts to report accomplishments to leadership
Use trend analysis to provide input for direct and indirect spending to adjust budget allocations as needed. Ensure fire management plans are in compliance with laws, policies, regulations and/or environmental mandates
Coordinate the review of fire plans that reflect national, regional, and local management goals, requirements and strategic objectives related to fire and aviation management
Consult program leadership for the development of long-term strategic fire management planning, assessments, interagency and/or fire management plans

Required

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service or exempt
Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check
Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution
Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Must be 18 years of age
This is a drug testing designated position. You will be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing
Must pass the Work Capacity Test for certain Interagency Fire Program Management or Fire Program Management positions
Secondary Coverage: Prior wildland firefighting experience is required
Willing to live/work in remote locations (volatile/unpredictable)
Some Fire positions may have Conditions of Employment such as: a valid state driver's license; a commercial driver's license (CDL); pre-appointment and random drug testing; or a physical or medical examination
There may be additional Conditions of Employment not listed here, however applicants will be notified of any specific requirements at the time a tentative job offer is made
