Assistant Planner - Contract - Part Time

1+ years expCivex is seeking a part-time, contract-based Assistant Planner to contribute to various long-range planning projects. The ideal candidate will support the project manager by assisting with research, analysis, report writing, and public outreach to ensure successful project completion.

Responsibilities
Provide direct support to the project manager
Assist with professional planning duties to support the implementation of client projects
Perform in-depth research and analysis
Write reports
Conduct public outreach to contribute to the successful completion of client projects
Work concurrently on multiple projects
Function as a subconsultant to another firm
Collaborate with another firm
Perform other functions as assigned
Qualification
Required
1 - 3 years of professional planning experience
Detail oriented with superior writing, formatting, and proofreading skills
Skilled researcher with a zest for analyzing and compiling research and data as needed by each project
Able to attend community workshops and City Council/Planning Commission meetings that may occur on weekday nights and/or weekends
Can produce final project documents and products by stated deadlines
Team player that thrives on great communication
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
Bachelor's degree or master's degree in urban or regional planning, or closely related field
Reliable means of transportation to and from work, and to perform site visits and attend meetings
California resident at the time of appointment with legal work authorization
Preferred
Experience with InDesign is desired but not required
Specific experience in at least one of the following areas: Housing Elements and/or RHNA, Local Coastal Program updates, General Plan Element Updates, CA Coastal Act Compliance, Climate/Resiliency Planning, Comprehensive Zoning/Municipal Code updates, Regional Planning, CEQA Compliance, Other Long-Range Planning activities
