Responsibilities

Work with customers to establish shipping requirements and schedules
Provide packing instructions to prepare hazardous materials for shipment, including marking, labelling, and container selection
Oversee packaging activities to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements
Signs legal shipping documentation on behalf of Sandia National Laboratories
Provides guidance and direction to internal customers for the safe and compliant shipment of items
Ensures safe compliant shipping of radiological materials
Ability to collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders

Required

Bachelor's degree in relevant field, plus five (5) or more years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
Experienced in the following: Interpret federal, state, and local hazardous material standards and regulations
Management of hazardous materials
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance

Preferred

Excellent customer service and written communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to model behaviors that reflect Sandia's core values
Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion on multiple tasks
Ability to work with sensitive information and classified matter
Understanding of and experience with the packaging and transportation requirements for explosives, radiological materials, and other hazardous materials covered by federal and state regulations is preferred
Ability to interpret federal, state, and local hazardous material standards and regulations
Experience in hazardous material management, disposition, coordination, packaging, movement, storage, quality control, or transportation
Knowledge of safety basis processes and implementation in hazardous material management
In-depth knowledge of explosive, nuclear, or radiological material compatibility requirements
