Vice President, Public Affairs
CURA Strategies is a fast-growing, award-winning health care communications and public affairs agency seeking a Vice President, Public Affairs. The role involves leading public and government affairs strategies, managing client relationships, and advocating for health policy changes to improve lives.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the U.S. health policy landscape to craft and execute comprehensive public affairs and strategic communication strategies
Work cross-functionally with communications and digital colleagues to develop and execute advocacy strategies designed to advance clients’ legislative and regulatory priorities
Proactively develop and nurture impactful relationships with key Congressional offices, relevant federal regulatory agencies, industry coalitions, and other stakeholders to enhance our clients' influence and reputation
Stay abreast of legislative and regulatory developments in health care, providing timely analysis to clients and internal teams to inform strategic decision-making
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic counsel on government affairs and strategic communications, and ensuring their objectives are met
Manage and mentor a team of government affairs and communications professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment
Work cross-functionally with communications and digital colleagues to ensure we’re delivering integrated approaches to our clients
Support new business by identifying opportunities and working with the leadership team to develop proposals
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, communications or a related field
9+ years public affairs experience, including legislative health policy experience
Must have Hill experience
Must have knowledge and understanding of the legislative and regulatory process
Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing teams and complex projects with a proactive, innovative and positive attitude toward client service
Experience with and enthusiasm for building and cultivating key policy and stakeholder relationships to help achieve clients' advocacy goals
Must have familiarity with digital advocacy tools and social media engagement
Must have excellent writing and organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Preferred
Advanced degree preferred
Experience working in a consulting firm (i.e., PR agency, government affairs firm) preferred
