Assistant Nurse Manager - Internal Medicine

The Department of Internal Medicine is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Assistant Nurse Manager to lead and support the clinical team, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care while managing nursing personnel across clinics.

Responsibilities
Assists the Nurse Manager and/or the Practice Manager/Sr. Practice Manager in the management and coordination of the daily activities for an assigned clinic(s)
Assist in the development implementation/evaluation of unit/departmental goals. Participates in decision-making with the Nurse Manager, practice manager, medical director, and other supervisory personnel
Assists in resolving interdepartmental and intradepartmental problems/concerns. Actively participates in performance initiatives. Facilitates change process
Acts in-charge in the absence of the Nurse Manager, Practice Manager/Sr. Practice Manager or other supervisory personnel
Investigates, communicates and follows through on concerns expressed by patients, families and/or staff. Effectively communicates with patients, families and staff
Supports nursing research by participating in research activities where appropriate
Participates in the continuing education process, identifies own professional needs and assists with education and orientation of clinical staff and students
Manages Human Resources activities of department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and terminations, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning
Utilizes tools of quality improvement to collect and report quality data
Other duties as assigned
Ensure adherence to Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and infection control standards
Manage Emergency Cart compliance, including:
Regular checks of Emergency Cart medication supplies
Inventory and restocking of Emergency Cart medications
Monitor and maintain Medication Refrigerator compliance
Perform other compliance-related duties as assigned
Ensuring that staff arrive at scheduled start times
Conduct clinical observations to ensure quality and safety in patient care
Provide feedback and coaching to staff based on observations
Drive timely completion of In-Basket items within Epic
Oversee and ensure completion of Fax Queue tasks
Monitor and address workflow bottlenecks
Organize and lead staff education activities
Provide customer service training to enhance patient experience
Cover staff lunches and absences as needed to maintain operations
Perform patient satisfaction rounding to gather feedback and improve service
Address patient concerns promptly and professionally
Support leadership initiatives and special projects as directed
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve clinic efficiency and compliance
Qualification
Required
Clinical specialty certification determined by the department required
Registered Nurse (RN) State Licensure or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) by Texas Board of Nursing (BON) required
Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) required
Bachelor's degree in nursing plus three years nursing experience, OR Associates degree in nursing plus five years nursing experience, OR Nursing diploma (3-year program) plus four years nursing experience
Nursing experience preferably including some managerial/supervisory experience
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas
Preferred
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) preferred
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) by American Heart Association (AHA) preferred
