Field Service Engineer II – Semiconductor

Headsbase is a company that provides advanced thin film processing tools. The Field Service Engineer II will support customers in the field by installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining high-vacuum PVD systems and robotics, requiring a full-time onsite presence.

Management Consulting

Responsibilities

Monitor, inspect, set up, calibrate, and maintain semiconductor process equipment to minimize downtime
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and implement effective solutions
Collect and analyze software-related data and coordinate with global engineering teams
Accurately document maintenance activities and prepare field service reports
Install and manage equipment control software and maintain revision history
Support installation of new equipment at customer sites
Monitor service parts inventory to ensure availability for repairs
Train and assist other technicians
Communicate effectively with customers and internal technical teams
Escalate complex repair issues to senior engineers when required
Comply with customer policies and safety protocols

Required

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
1–2 years of experience as a Field Service Engineer, Technician, or in a technical engineering role
PVD or semiconductor vacuum equipment experience
Multi-chamber cluster systems and robotics experience
Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently after 3–6 months of training
Methodical troubleshooting approach
Ability to recommend spare and consumable parts for preventive maintenance and repairs
Effective communication skills
Up to 25% domestic travel; international travel for training may be required
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Flexible shift availability
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Extended standing, walking, typing, and driving
Occasional kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and reaching
Cleanroom environment (full cleanroom suit required)
Exposure to mechanical parts, electrical systems, chemicals, UV light, and lasers
May involve working in confined spaces, on scaffolding, or at heights
High-pressure, time-sensitive situations requiring quick resolution

Preferred

Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred
PLC and software application experience (preferred)
Japanese/English bilingual a plus
