Staff, UX Designer - Conversational Design
Walmart Canada is seeking a Staff UX Designer - Conversational Design to lead design initiatives and deliver high-quality design solutions. This senior-level role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, mentoring junior designers, and ensuring design work aligns with business goals and brand standards.

Responsibilities
Lead the design process from concept to execution for complex projects
Develop and communicate design strategies and vision
Analyze user feedback and live conversational data to identify pain points and opportunities for continuous improvement. You'll use data analytics to continuously refine the user experience, ensuring AI models evolve with customer demands
Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define requirements and deliverables
Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals
Conduct user research and usability testing to inform design decisions
Mentor and provide feedback to junior designers
Advocate for user-centered design principles and best practices
Ensure consistency and quality across all design outputs
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in design, Fine Arts, or related field (or equivalent experience)
7+ years of professional design experience
Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in visual, interaction, and/or product design
Ability to blend qualitative insight (user research, workflow mapping) with quantitative rigor (experiments, data analysis)
Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, etc
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Experience leading design projects and mentoring others
Bachelor's degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 4 years' experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area
6 years' experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area
Preferred
Experience in retail, e-commerce, or a related industry
Familiarity with design systems and accessibility standards
Design certification (for example, IDEOU - Foundations in Design Thinking Certificate)
Driving product development in a user experience area
Master's degree in UI/UX Design, Interactive and Visual Design, Product Design, or related area
Related industry experience (for example, retail, supply chain, eCommerce, healthcare)
UI/UX, Interactive and Visual Design, Electronics Art, Multimedia Design, or related area
Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly
Knowledge of accessibility best practices and Walmart's accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture
