Manager of Medical Operations

Responsibilities

Assist in the management and standardization of medical services across all vessels in the fleet
Ensure onboard medical centers are properly equipped, staffed, and maintained
Develop and update medical protocols, clinical guidelines, and operational procedures
Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, flag-state laws, and public health authorities (e.g., CDC, WHO)
Oversee and respond to internal and external audits and inspections
Manage medical risk assessments and incident reporting and debriefing
Recruit and help to onboard, shipboard medical personnel (doctors, nurses, physician’s assistants)
Develop and coordinate onboard training programs
Evaluate medical team performance
Assist medical emergency response planning, including outbreaks and mass-casualty events
Coordinate with shoreside hospitals, evacuation services, and port authorities as needed
Oversee infection prevention, sanitation standards, and public health monitoring
Assist with procurement of medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and supplies
Liaise with external medical vendors
Support guest and crew medical case escalations when needed

Required

5+ years of clinical or healthcare operations experience
Strong leadership and team management skills
Knowledge of maritime medicine, public health, and regulatory compliance
Excellent crisis management and decision-making abilities
Strong communication and cross-cultural collaboration skills
Proficient computer skills in the Windows operating system, including both word-processing and spreadsheet applications
Excellent technical writing skills
Ability to read, write, and comprehend policies, legal guidelines, correspondence, and memos in English
Ability to effectively communicate--both in writing and orally--with a professional demeanor

Preferred

Medical degree (MD, DO) or advanced healthcare qualification (RN, NP, PA)
Prior maritime, cruise, remote medicine, or emergency medicine experience
