Research Laboratory Technician III
The Geneva Foundation is seeking a Research Laboratory Technician III who will provide technical knowledge and expertise in clinical laboratory analysis. This role involves assisting with animal-based research studies, conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing reports in accordance with approved protocols and ethical standards.

Responsibilities
Perform animal-based research procedures in accordance with approved IACUC protocols
Promote humane and ethical treatment of animal research subjects
Assist with animal handling, sample collection, tissue processing, and related laboratory procedures, as applicable to protocol
Support the coordination, execution, and maintenance of animal research studies, including study documentation
Assist in the preparation of interim and final progress reports related to animal research activities
Contribute to the dissemination of research results, including assistance with manuscript preparation and presentation of findings
Present research findings at scientific meetings or conferences, as directed by the Principal Investigator
Maintain an updated literature library relevant to animal research projects
Maintain the security and confidentiality of animal research records
Ensure compliance with IACUC, OSHA, GLP, IATA, and institutional animal care and use requirements
Maintain and update regulatory documentation related to animal research protocols, approvals, amendments, and sponsor or regulatory communications
Provide technical knowledge and expertise in clinical laboratory analysis
Write referenced clinical treatment briefs using Government provided methodologies and formats
Perform preliminary research, information gathering, and information packaging in preparation for the Clinical Panels, as needed
Assist the production team with data input
Provide technical knowledge and expertise in clinical laboratory analysis with expert-guided recommendations for required tasks, length of tasks, responsible treaters, essential characteristics and material assignments
Adheres to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), International Air Transportation Association (IATA) Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and infection control procedures
Demonstrate proficiency in performing basic study related procedures as required
Execution and maintenance of research study
Manage study documentation to include accurate and timely filing
Collection of data and data entry
Perform bioassays of tissue culture and rodent tissues, when applicable to protocol
Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting and maintenance of all clean rooms and equipment
Assist with receipt and inspection of raw materials, lab ordering and stocking, as requested
Process and ship samples according to all regulations and protocol requirements
Document all correspondence and communication pertinent to the research
Interact and communicate effectively with PI, other site personnel, research participants, The Geneva Foundation and the study sponsor
Comply with all the rules and regulations as applicable to assigned duty station
Assist in the preparation and analysis of laboratory experiments, as requested
Maintain and update files of all applicable regulatory documentation for IACUC or IRB (including protocols, approvals, amendments, modifications, etc.) as well as any communications with the sponsor or any other Federal or regulatory office (including prior approvals, change in scope, etc.)
Qualification
Required
Research experience involving animal handling and animal-based laboratory procedures
Experience in cell culture and laboratory bench-top analytical analyses utilizing animal models
Knowledge of and commitment to the humane and ethical treatment of animal research subjects
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
Demonstrate competence in oral and written communication
Must be organized, attentive to detail, and possess a positive, friendly and professional demeanor
Must be flexible with changing priorities and able to communicate in a diplomatic and professional manner
Computer skills including at least intermediate level experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office Software
Strong data management and processing skills
Familiarity with medical terminology and abbreviations
Preferred
Continuing education or enrollment in a Master of Science program, preferred (if applicable)
2-4 years' experience in biomedical or research laboratory preferred
2-4 years non-profit, research, or healthcare experience desired
Knowledge of Military Operational Planning, the Military Health System and the Military Medical Logistics System preferred
Experience in performing complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological tests desired
