Mechanical Designer
Cretex Medical is a leading contract manufacturer of precision components and assemblies for the medical device industry. The Mechanical Designer will be responsible for designing, procuring, and fabricating mechanical tooling and systems for custom automation equipment, ensuring specifications and requirements are met within budget and time constraints.

Responsibilities
Generates designs and drawings in Solidworks for both tooling and machines
Conduct design reviews with key stakeholders (engineering / management / operators) as required following design Concept & Final Print release prior to build / purchase
Oversee procurement, fabrication, and assembly of components of the design
Estimate design & fabrication costs & lead-times
Acts as liaison with internal/external assemblers/manufacturers of equipment to ensure all parts are manufactured to design
Support and comply with the company’s Quality System, ISO, and medical device requirements
Read, understand, and follow work instructions and standard work
Ensure business systems are implemented, maintained, and functioning properly
Participate in required company meetings and in the Operational Excellence Program
Complete all other work duties as assigned
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
Qualification
Required
2-year Design related degree
Experience 3+ years machine & tool design using SolidWorks
Working knowledge of mechanical parts as well as computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks
Experienced working knowledge of metal fabrication and assembly techniques and tolerance capabilities (CNC machining, EDM, Grinding, Polishing, water/laser/plasma cutting, heat treatments, surface treatments, welding)
Strong mechanical / tool / machine building aptitude
Strong troubleshooting and analytical thinking skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Knowledge with servo, stepper motors and drives, robotic systems and integration of them
Knowledge with vision systems and integration of vision applications in robotic systems
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; new designs require interaction with Engineering, Project Management, Assembly Personnel, Vendors and Customers
Working knowledge of proper drawing stds and Geometric Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5-2009
Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, prioritize and multitask
Preferred
Continuing Education; including participation in local chapters, associations, and/or organizations
CNC Programming knowledge a plus
Hands on experience with typical toolroom / machine shop equipment
