Administrative Specialist I

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest agencies in the state, responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of North Carolinians. The Administrative Specialist I will serve as the office manager for the Business Enterprises Program, providing comprehensive administrative support to ensure efficient operations and compliance.

Health Care

Responsibilities

Answer phones, retrieve and distribute mail, greet visitors, and manage front-office functions
Compose letters, memoranda, emails, and other correspondence independently
Maintain up-to-date files and records in both physical and electronic formats
Perform data input and retrieval for program operations
Provide basic technical support for computers, software programs, and office equipment
Check in equipment and process outgoing faxes
Make copies, file documents, and complete other administrative tasks as assigned
Support BEP staff, consultants, and licensed blind operators with administrative needs
Assist with scheduling and coordination of meetings and program activities
Ensure compliance with program policies and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Required

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience
Equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred

Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Outlook, Word, and Excel
Proven ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form
Strong customer service experience
Skilled in compiling, organizing, and analyzing data for reporting purposes
Proficient in utilizing office equipment and technology to meet organizational needs
