Sr. Electrical Hardware Design Engineer (Onsite)

RTX is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Resilient Connectivity Products Hardware Technologies Department in Mission Systems. In this role, you will design and develop high-performance digital hardware for communication products essential to national defense, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet system specifications.

Responsibilities

Perform circuit card design lifecycle activities including requirements capture, schematic capture, design documentation, signal integrity analysis, creation of board stackup and routing instructions, coordination and review of printed wiring board layout, creation of test plans, root cause analysis, and integration. Designs will include the use of FPGA, processors, and DDR memory components, and industry interfaces, such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART. Generate Printed Wiring Board (PWB) layout constraint guidelines and oversee the routing, layout, fabrication, and assembly of complex designs
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, firmware, and mechanical engineers, to develop proven hardware designs that meet system performance and operational specifications
Prepare and present project and/or technical information to technical staff, program leadership, management and customers. This includes producing technical documentation, including specifications, hardware design documents, and test plans
Test and troubleshoot electronic circuitry. Includes support lab of design verification testing for circuit card assemblies
Perform trade studies as needed and select components necessary to implement the requirements. Includes supporting system architecture discussions where needed

Required

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Experience with all aspects of circuit card design lifecycle activities including requirements capture, schematic capture, layout, build, and test as evidenced by successful design completion
Experience with schematic capture of electrical circuit designs. Includes familiarity with a schematic capture tool (examples may include Siemens/Mentor Graphics Xpedition, Altium, Cadence Allegro, EAGLE, KiCAD, etc.) for creation of circuit card designs
Experience with electrical designs that contain digital electronics such as processors, FPGAs, high-speed transceivers, DDR, and flash memories

Preferred

Experience with generating Printed Wiring Board (PWB) layout constraint guidelines and overseeing the routing, layout, fabrication, and assembly of the design
Experience with Agile for Hardware Development, including planning, tracking, and managing hardware development projects in JIRA is a plus
Familiar with latest technology trends in the area of high-speed digital design, as well as microprocessors, memory, FPGA and interface protocols
Signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) experience with ability to perform pre- and post-layout simulations and analysis to ensure reliable signal transmission and power delivery for high-speed interfaces like PCIe, DDR, and high-speed Ethernet
Project management experience using Earned Value Management System (EVMS). Includes experience performing cost, schedule, and risk management for hardware development projects
