ACCOUNTING ADMINISTRATOR I (SUPERVISOR)

Responsibilities

Lead, direct, and develop professional staff involved in making apportionment payments to cities, counties, school districts, community colleges, and other local entities pursuant to various federal and state laws, Budget Act items, and other legal statutes. Review and approve payment documentation to ensure payments meet statutory requirements and are allocated appropriately. Monitor staff functions to ensure accuracy and timeliness
Lead, direct, and develop professional staff in preparing and responding to legislative bill analyses, requests for legal opinions, Executive Office inquiries, inquiries from external agencies, and special projects
Attend and participate in meetings and conferences with city and county officials and various state department personnel related to apportionment payments and statutory changes. Attend and participate in Fi$cal implementation meetings and trainings
Review and approve work schedules and timesheets
Responsible for the recruitment process
Foster individual growth through coaching and mentoring; collaborate with staff to identify staff goals; evaluate staff performance on a regular basis; and complete items such as expectations, probation reports, performance appraisals, individual development plans, merit salary adjustments, and disciplinary actions in a timely manner
Conduct bi-weekly one-on-one meetings and weekly unit meetings
Work with the section’s management to prepare budget change proposals and requests for legal opinions
Monitor and track workload to identify resources needed and business process improvements
Monitor and track work product and schedules to ensure accuracy and timeliness
Assess current processes and collaborate with staff to update and implement adequate internal controls to protect the state’s assets
Lead the section in accomplishing department, division, and section mission, vision, goals, and objectives
