Samuel Knight Energy & Infrastructure is currently seeking a High Voltage Project Engineer. The role involves overseeing utility substation designs, providing electrical and physical design for various projects, and ensuring on-time and on-budget project completion while mentoring team members.

Responsibilities

Engineering: Apply sound knowledge of utility substation designs and standards

Provide electrical design: For projects like relay upgrades, breaker additions/upgrades, transformer replacements, RTU installations, and new substations

Provide physical design: For projects like bus additions, new equipment installations, and new substations

Create project deliverables: Develop scope definitions, estimates, and schedules; collaborate with Project Managers to ensure on-time and on-budget completion

Prepare specifications: Develop specifications and material lists

Oversee drawings: Manage preparation of review sets and final construction sets

Handle project closeout: Oversee as-built revisions

Project Communication: Interact with clients, utility personnel, manufacturers’ representatives, and others as needed

Stay informed: Keep up with developments in electric utility substation design & construction; suggest improvements

Serve as lead: Act as Lead Engineer on assigned projects

Perform site visits: Conduct documentation and inspections at job sites as required

Mentor team: Train Design Engineers, Designers, and Electrical CAD Technicians

Additional duties: As assigned by the Manager of Electrical Engineering or a Senior Protection & Control Engineer

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation design and construction

Professional Engineering License or Professional Certification (desirable)

Working knowledge of scheduling software and spreadsheet programs

Knowledge of applicable engineering codes
