Cost Analyst
Responsibilities
Maintain an accurate database of headcount, labor hours, compensation, overtime usage, and other labor related cost elements across all departments
Develop and continuously update a centralized labor database containing key information for both current employees and planned future staffing
Analyze labor costs, productivity metrics, overtime trends, and workforce utilization to generate regular Labor Cost Trend Reports
Identify cost drivers, variances, and labor‑related risks, providing data‑driven insights and recommendations to management
Support the preparation of annual and monthly labor cost budgets, including headcount planning and labor expense forecasts
Conduct variance analysis by comparing budgeted labor costs with actual results, highlighting deviations and underlying causes
Enter labor‑related data—including work hours, schedule changes, and compensation adjustments—into internal systems with accuracy and timeliness
Collaborate with HR and Operations teams to ensure data integrity and proper document retention
Assess workforce deployment, staffing levels, labor efficiency, and production volume to identify opportunities for labor cost optimization
Evaluate the financial impact of changes in staffing models, schedules, or labor policies
Review and process labor‑related invoices such as outsourced labor, temporary staffing, or contractor services
Ensure compliance with internal labor policies, overtime rules, and financial controls
Handle ad‑hoc labor cost analyses and special reporting requests
Provide general analytical and administrative support as assigned by supervisors
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
1–3 years of experience in cost analysis, financial analysis, labor planning, workforce analytics, or related roles
Strong proficiency in Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, data modeling)
Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Workday, or similar)
Ability to interpret large datasets and translate findings into actionable insights
Strong analytical thinking with high attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to identify cost trends, variances, and operational inefficiencies
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data clearly
Strong organizational and time‑management abilities
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross‑functionally (HR, Finance, Operations)
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive labor and compensation data
Proactive, self‑motivated, and adaptable in a fast‑paced environment
Preferred
Professional certifications (CMA, CPA, or similar) are a plus but not required
Experience working in manufacturing, operations, supply chain, or HR analytics environment is preferred
Experience working with labor management systems or workforce analytics tools is a plus
