Commercial Banking Basics: Initial learning sessions on the fundamentals of commercial banking, key terminology, and the banking industry landscape
Job Shadowing: Shadowing team members in various job functions to observe daily activities and processes
Networking: Informal introductions to team members and initial networking activities
Deep Dive into Commercial Loan Process: Detailed breakdown of the stages involved in the commercial loan process
Roles and Responsibilities: Understanding the different roles within the commercial lending team and their contributions to the loan process
Loan Documentation Introduction: Familiarization with basic commercial documentation
Case Studies: Reviewing historical loan application materials and documentation
Primeway's Spreading Standards: Introduction to Primeway’s financial statement spreading standards and methodologies
Hands-on Spreading: Interns learn to spread financial statements using provided data and software
Financial Statement Review: Understanding and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Discussion: Reviewing completed spreads and identifying key financial trends and anomalies
Introduction to Credit Analysis: Understanding the importance and principles of credit analysis
The Five C’s of Credit: Detailed exploration of the five C’s – Character, Capacity, Capital, Collateral, and Conditions – and their application in credit assessment
Case Studies: Applying the Five C's framework to real-world loan scenarios
Q&A with Credit Analysts: Opportunity to interact with credit analysts and learn from their experience
Probability of Default Grading: Introduction to PD grading models and techniques
Industry Research Methods: Learning effective methods and sources for conducting industry research
Borrower Assessment: Performing industry research to assess the viability and risk of potential and existing borrowers
Credit File Updates: Assisting in updating credit files with relevant industry and borrower information
Deal Team Discussions: Inclusion in actual deal team discussions to gain insights into live lending decisions
Business Banking Basics: Introduction to the fundamentals of business banking, including account types and services

Qualification

High school educationHouston Community College Co-op Program

Required

High school education
Participating in Houston Community College Co-op Program
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting up to 5 lbs
Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergencies
Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator
Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day
Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management
Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance
