Talent Data Analyst
Arnold & Porter is a law firm seeking a Talent Data Analyst to join their Talent Department in Washington, DC. The role involves collaborating with Talent teams to translate data into actionable insights, develop dashboards, and support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities
Partnering with Talent teams (Attorney Recruiting, Career Development & Advancement, Legal Personnel, Professional Development, and Wellbeing) to understand business needs, clarify analytical questions, and determine the most effective way to deliver insights
Serving as a trusted advisor to Talent leadership by providing context, interpretation, and recommendations, not just data outputs
Designing, developing, and maintaining dashboards and reports that support Talent initiatives such as recruiting, attrition, evaluations, and performance
Translating complex data into clear narratives, written summaries, tables, graphs, and visualizations that highlight key findings and implications
Providing actionable insights and recommendations that inform strategic and operational decision-making
Ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality in all analyses and reporting
Conducting ad hoc analyses and participating in special projects, balancing competing priorities and timelines
Creating clear, user-friendly documentation and guidance to help stakeholders understand and use reports and dashboards effectively
Leading and coordinating data-related projects, including cross-departmental communication with Workforce Information Systems, IT, and other teams as needed
Identifying opportunities to improve reporting processes and recommending practical, user-focused enhancements to increase efficiency and impact
Qualification
Required
Four-year college degree required; equivalent work experience considered
At least two (2) years of experience in a data analytics, business intelligence, or related role
Experience using business intelligence tools (such as Power BI) to create reports and dashboards that support business decisions
Working knowledge of SQL for data extraction and analysis
Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft M365 and/or related software
Ability to translate complex data into clear, easy-to-understand insights for non-technical audiences, both in writing and in conversation
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work closely with teams, understand their needs, and help guide them toward effective solutions
Experience gathering requirements, asking thoughtful questions, and shaping analytical work to address real business needs
Ability to provide context, interpretation, and recommendations, rather than simply delivering data or reports
Familiarity with data visualization best practices and an eye for clear, effective design
Ability to produce clear, error-free, concise business documentation and user guidance
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality
Comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels of an organization
Proven record of strong, effective communication skills when working with teams
Preferred
Law firm or professional services experience is a plus
Experience with workflow automation, additional analytics tools, cloud platforms, or firm-specific systems (e.g., UKGPro, Aderant, Intapp or professional services systems) is a plus; training will be provided on firm-specific tools
Flexibility to work additional hours, as necessary
