Geologist I
UES is a national leader in geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, and materials testing and inspection. The Geologist I is responsible for supporting environmental and geotechnical fieldwork, data collection, and report preparation under the supervision of more experienced geologists.

Responsibilities
Assist in the collection and documentation of field data under the guidance of senior geologists
Conduct basic soil, groundwater, and environmental sampling in accordance with standard procedures
Record and organize field notes, photographs, and chain-of-custody documentation
Contribute to preliminary technical reports and data summaries
Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times and report safety concerns promptly
Maintain equipment and ensure field supplies are prepared and available
Communicate field progress and challenges to the project manager or field lead in a timely manner
Perform other duties as assigned to support project goals and company initiatives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Geology or a closely related field
Ability to obtain Fundamentals of Geology (FG) certification within 6 months
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools such as Teams or SharePoint
Knowledge of basic environmental regulations (e.g., USEPA, state-level programs)
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and willingness to learn
Clear written and verbal communication skills with emerging technical writing experience
Preferred
Exposure to Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments or field sampling methods (internship or coursework preferred)
