Financial Accounting Intern (Summer 2026)
The North Carolina Department of Public Safety is dedicated to safeguarding the lives and property of the people of North Carolina. They are seeking a Financial Accounting Intern to assist with auditing invoices, reconciling payments, and processing payment requests within their financial system.

Responsibilities
Auditing various invoices for payment
Reconciling various recurring payments
Processing payment requests in the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS) accounting system
Successful completion of assigned projects
Timeliness with completion of deadline driven tasks
Responsiveness to information request from internal and external customers
Completion of required trainings
Qualification
Required
Basic accounting knowledge
Attention to detail
Communication skills including the ability to communicate with all internal and external customers
Problem solving
Willingness to learn
Must be currently enrolled in college or a recent college graduate. NOTE: 'Recent' graduates are those who have graduated within the last 6 months
Must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree (or a recent graduate) in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration

Interns must submit to a background check and fingerprinting or consent to agency onboarding requirements
