Recruiter (Volunteer Coordinator)

Comrise is seeking a Recruiter / Volunteer Coordinator to support and manage their in-service volunteer program across 15+ departments. This role involves recruiting, onboarding, and managing volunteers while working closely with leadership to ensure effective placement and engagement.

Responsibilities

Interview, assess, and place volunteer applicants based on departmental needs
Conduct a minimum of 5 volunteer interviews per week, evaluating:
Motivation, availability, and commitment
Relevant skills (languages, healthcare exposure, child life, etc.)
Ability to follow guidelines, receive supervision, and maintain confidentiality
Comfort working in a cancer care / specialized healthcare setting
Determine placement, non-placement, or pending placement and communicate next steps
Check references as needed
Manage day-to-day volunteer operations and scheduling
Coordinate volunteer assignments to meet departmental needs
Distribute weekly volunteer schedules to department supervisors
Support onboarding and compliance requirements, including:
General orientation and department-specific training
HIPAA and confidentiality training
Medical clearances (TB testing, inoculations, etc.)
Six-month and annual volunteer assessments
Serve as a point of contact for volunteer questions, concerns, and scheduling needs
Support planning and execution of departmental programs and events
Assist with Volunteer Recognition initiatives, including:
Creating invitation and ceremony content
Coordinating with internal creative teams
Ordering recognition awards
Assist with:
Holiday decorating initiatives
Volunteer education programs
Orientation training and scheduling
Ensure volunteer materials remain accurate and up to date

Required

2–4 years of administrative, recruiting, HR, or volunteer coordination experience
Strong organizational, communication, and follow-up skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

Bachelor's degree
Recruiting, HR, or onboarding experience
Workday experience (strong plus; must be a quick learner if not)
Experience coordinating or training volunteers
