Systems Analyst
Northwestern University is seeking a qualified individual for the Systems Analyst position within the Kellogg Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. The role involves the development, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of technology and management systems to support the admissions and financial aid teams, ensuring effective implementation and performance of software solutions.

Responsibilities
Partners with senior analyst, end users and peers to document and analyze functional requirements, identify gaps and alternative approaches to meet requirements, and ensure all deliverables completed
Partners with functional users and technical and reporting staff to determine best approaches, ensuring that approved solutions are implemented in a timely and correct fashion
Collaborates with all Kellogg MBA admissions teams, KIS, and other departments to review and launch application for each admissions cycle
Attends trainings and seminars on best practices for knowledge share with larger Admissions organization
Supports the unification, maintenance, development and automations of Slate instance, including data movement between systems and troubleshooting integration issues
Maps workflow and process for each admissions cycle inclusive of enhancements and changes to process and drafts accurate documentation of process, procedure, and system/application configuration
Gathers and analyzes business requirements
Documents code and participates in code reviews
Formulates test scripts and performs detailed testing for moderate to complex use cases to ensure that the implemented software functions correctly
Participates in and may facilitate iterative feedback processes among users, developers, and analysts to ensure software functionality aligns with requirements. Draws on prior implementation experience to engage in discussions
Partners with Kellogg Information Systems (KIS) on interface and student enterprise systems
Works with Marketing, third-party vendors, and others to develop and deploy optimal information systems on the web
Assists with the exploration of new Slate features, new technologies and the design of software solutions for the user community
Assists in software evaluation and enters moderate to complex configurations to meet user needs
Assists with technical and business processes within all systems utilized for admissions
Supports admissions stakeholders and partners with their query, technological workflow and data flow needs
Collects feedback from users on application and system performance and escalates moderate to complex critical performance issues with technical resources and management
Creates, prioritizes, and manages enhancements and service requests and tickets
Enables necessary systems changes, articulates requirements, creates and executes test plans, and coordinates responses to production issues on behalf of the Office of Admissions
Provides work direction and/or supervise staff such as subordinates, contractors, vendors, students, etc
Manages projects ensuring timelines, deliverables and expectations are met
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in IT, CS or equivalent or 2 years equivalent experience
College level degree in a technology, management, or analytics related field or 2 years equivalent experience
2 years of experience with development and management of business and/or database systems or a related field
Experience working directly with functional analysts and end users is required
Experience in troubleshooting the technical components of a vendor purchased application and its associated back-end processes and integrated applications
Demonstrated ability to pull complex queries to pull exact data
Exceptional abilities with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and other data analysis tools
Project management experience
Basic understanding of Javascript, HTML, XML, SQL, SQR, web services and SES
Strong ability and eagerness to help others and work in a highly collaborative environment
Excellent listening abilities
Experience in user training and translating technical terms to everyday users
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail
Strong emotional intelligence and able to handle unexpected requests and changes with grace and understanding
Preferred
Experience with web content management systems and platforms such as iModules and Jive software
Experience with a structured software implementation methodology is highly desired
Effective management and analytical skills
Ability to manage and address complex and sometimes competing priorities
Previous experience working with admissions application systems
Intermediate knowledge of Javascript, HTML, XML, SQL, SQR, web services, and SES
Knowledge of higher education or commercial sector business practices
A firm understanding of management databases and data integrity. Exceptional ability to manage priorities
