General Ledger Accountant

Polara Health is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive GL Accountant to join their finance team. This role is responsible for managing accounts payable, cash transactions, and the monthly close process, as well as overseeing all accounting functions for a separate legal entity, Complete Care Partners, LLC.

Responsibilities

Post daily cash receipts to the general ledger with accuracy and timeliness. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cash reconciliations, identifying and resolving variances promptly
Manage daily deposits, ensuring timely recording and reconciliation in the ERP system
Enter vendor invoices into the AP system with proper coding and documentation
Prepare and process weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wires
Maintain vendor master records and address inquiries promptly
Prepare, review, and post journal entries for monthly, quarterly, and annual close
Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accrued liabilities, and payroll-related accounts
Maintain the integrity of the chart of accounts and ensure proper coding of transactions in compliance with accounting policies
Assist in preparing supporting schedules for financial statements
Record revenue from various sources including patient fees, insurance reimbursements, and grant funding
Track restricted and unrestricted grant revenue in accordance with funding agreements
Review and code invoices and expenses to appropriate GL accounts and cost centers
Collaborate with IT and the Controller to design, build, and maintain KPI and cash flow dashboards that provide leadership with real-time visibility into business performance
Use data analytics to highlight trends, identify variances, and support informed decision-making
Assist in preparing the annual budget by gathering inputs, validating assumptions, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals
Distribute budget vs. actual reports to department leaders, highlighting key variances and opportunities for course correction
Partner with operational and departmental leaders to ensure accurate coding, efficient workflows, and timely resolution of discrepancies
Provide support during audits, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives
Leverage Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) for daily accounting functions
Apply advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF, INDEX/MATCH, conditional formatting, and data visualization) to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy

Required

21 years of age or older; or minimum 18 years old and licensed or certified under A.R.S. Title 32 and providing services within the personnel member's scope of practice; or minimum 18 years old for select administrative positions
Must be able to provide or obtain an AZDPS Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
Must possess a valid Driver License
Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED required
3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in healthcare, nonprofit, or behavioral health settings
Strong knowledge of GAAP
Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) or similar ERP systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments

Preferred

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field preferred
Healthcare accounting experience strongly preferred
Experience with grant accounting, fund accounting, and revenue recognition for insurance claims preferred
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF, INDEX/MATCH, conditional formatting, and data visualization)
Experience with Sage and NetSuite strongly preferred
