Robotics & Autonomous Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) – USSOCOM J7
Kinetic Concepts is a leading provider of full-spectrum training and operational support to military, federal, and law enforcement clients. They are seeking a Robotics & Autonomous Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support USSOCOM J7 in capability development, experimentation, and transition of robotic technologies into deployable Special Operations Forces capabilities.

Responsibilities
Research, assess, and evaluate robotic, autonomous, and uncrewed systems for applicability to SOF operational needs
Track and contribute to SOCOM capability development efforts aligned with Command priorities
Identify, document, and analyze capability gaps related to robotics and autonomy, including proposed mitigation strategies
Advocate for the integration of innovative robotic and autonomous technologies into SOCOM operational concepts and future capabilities
Plan, coordinate, and support experimentation activities, demonstrations, and technical events supporting USSOCOM J7 objectives
Participate in CONUS and OCONUS experimentation events, exercises, and demonstrations as required
Evaluate emerging technologies for transition potential into Programs of Record or other acquisition pathways
Generate Experimentation Support Logs documenting planning, execution, analysis, and outcomes
Review, edit, and provide written recommendations on capability development artifacts (e.g., CONOPs, requirements documents, experimentation reports)
Conduct comparative technical and operational analysis of candidate robotic systems
Produce Monthly Reports summarizing activities, coordination efforts, and progress toward closing SOCOM capability gaps
Contribute to Quarterly Reports capturing cumulative progress, metrics, and insights for USSOCOM leadership
Synchronize efforts with USSOCOM stakeholders, operational users, acquisition organizations, R&D entities, intelligence elements, industry partners, and allied partners
Support continuous engagement with users throughout the technology development and experimentation lifecycle
Provide professional briefings and written products suitable for senior military and civilian audiences
Qualification
Required
Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility
Valid U.S. passport with ability to conduct CONUS and OCONUS travel
Bachelor's degree in engineering, robotics, systems engineering, computer science, or related field OR equivalent technical/operational experience
Demonstrated experience with robotic, autonomous, or uncrewed systems (air, ground, maritime, or multi-domain)
Prior experience supporting DoD, USSOCOM, Joint, or Service-level organizations
Experience analyzing emerging technologies and mapping them to operational requirements
Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to produce senior-level reports and briefings
Ability to function independently in an advisory SME role without tasking authority
Preferred
Prior experience supporting USSOCOM J7, SOFWERX, experimentation cells, or innovation organizations
Familiarity with SOCOM capability development, experimentation, and transition processes
Experience interfacing with intelligence or threat assessment organizations
Background working with allied or partner-nation forces, international experimentation venues, or multinational exercises
Experience evaluating commercial technologies for defense transition
