HELP DESK TECHNICIAN, I.T. DEPT. [FLSA: non-exempt; SHIFT: 40 hrs/week]
Oviedo Recreation & Parks is seeking a Help Desk Technician to assist City employees with their computing needs and manage the I.T. Help Desk. The role involves providing technical support, maintaining computer systems, and assisting with hardware and software installations.

Responsibilities
Provides technical support to City employees via phone, email, and self-service Help Desk tickets
Performs setup, installation and maintenance of various computer hardware and software systems to include microcomputers, thin clients, Voip telephones, mobile devices, servers, LAN and WAN networking systems
Provides technical support and training of users for various computer hardware and software as required
Assists Information Technology Technician with inventory of computer hardware and software
Assesses and troubleshoots computer support problems and applies understanding of computer software and hardware products and services to resolve end-user problems
Performs basic administration of RingCentral VoIP telephone system
Writes documentation for procedures, applications, programs, and training
Receives, documents, prioritizes, and schedules installation and maintenance of PC-based systems and thin clients; notifies those requesting work of the expected resolution time
Assists in research and planning, enhancements, and upgrades for both hardware and software to the City data network
Assists the IT Department staff or others with the completion and tracking of projects
Follows safe working practices and has a working knowledge of safety practices and procedures
Operates various computer systems and peripheral equipment (i.e., printers, storage devices, terminals, telecommunications hardware/software, etc.) according to established procedures
Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of computer equipment and work areas
Performs related work as required
Has a role in the City’s disaster preparation and/or disaster recovery efforts, as may be designated in the City Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan
Qualification
Required
AA/AS degree in Computer Science or closely related field from a two-year college or technical school and one year of computer related support experience or a High School Diploma or G.E.D. with some vocational training in computers and three (3) years' experience in computer operations
Experience should be in the setup and running of microcomputers in a networked environment, with the majority of experience being Microsoft products
Valid Florida driver license
Ability to work flexible schedules at varied locations as requested and/or in emergencies
Knowledge of microcomputers, server hardware, virtualization (VMware), and Microsoft operating systems
Ability to meet job demands under stressful situations (i.e. program conversion deadlines, program/data recoveries from hardware failures, etc.)
Ability to train users in general application software
Ability to read and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and reach valid conclusions
Ability to work productively as part of a team
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and communicate effectively both orally and in writing with individuals and groups
Must be able to work independently and cooperatively with all City staff and outside vendors
Preferred
MCSA or greater, A+ and/or Network+ is preferred, but not required
